We all started somewhere...

Well, going back a bit here. I first got this camera for my birthday many years ago and went out about a week afterwards, in the dead of winter, to start having a play around with it. I had pretty much no idea what I was doing so these perhaps aren't the greatest pictures, but still, we all started somewhere...

These were taken on 28-12-2013 around a local wood near Haigh, north west England, on a pretty cold "English Winter's" day.

Wow, first pic! Well, it might not be anything amazing, it was the first one but still, not completely terrible (I got better, I hope). I guess I was going for the contrast between the vibrant centre and the duller lower regions.

Gotta love that vibrant centre!

Got a little experimental with the colour filter on my camera. Not sure what I was going for but not terrible I guess.

Again, no idea what I was going for but oooh, orange!

Couldn't resist the mixed lighting. Kinda jumbled but I like to think I captured the height pretty well in this.

Absolutely fell in love with the sun set that day!

Look at those sun-set shadows...

Look at them! (Yeah, I was experimenting with zooming in)

Another thing I love in pictures, Water.

Meadows of Winter.

Tiny little waterfall, because why not.

I tried to be a bit more 'Arty' here... Did it work?

Water & Reflections! Had to be done.

What's better than trees? Upside-Down Trees. (water reflection)

...Okay... your guess is as good as mine... Arty though...

Similar pic at a wider angle.

Love it. Not much more to say, love it.

I was just learning the rule of 2/3rds, what do you think? Should I have focused more on the water or above here? (I figured the river was rarer so went for that)

Broad shot of some freezing cold winter water.

And again... was a lot colder than it looks.

How could you not love what that sunset gave!

Golden clouds and tree shilouettes... What more needs said?

Not bad for my first time!

Well, I think I definitely had points to improve on but for my very first attempt I don't think I did too badly (if I do say so myself). Any comments and tips are always hugely appreciated.

Thanks for browsing. Cya soon!
